Today we had a pinning ceremony in which two of our newly hired certified police officers receive their badges. It is the completion of three weeks of classroom training. Now they’ll start their field training for the next 12 to 14 weeks. We’re adding two additional employees to our department, which is exciting. It gives us the ability to provide better service to the campus community. I felt really proud. My family was out there, and they got to see me being entrusted with this position. I just got married last year, so I decided to have my wife – she’s part of The Ohio State University family, as well – and it was important for me to have her pin my badge on. I grew up pretty close to Ohio State University, and it was where I went for my undergraduate degree. I’ve always been a Buckeye fan, and I now I get to come back to the community that’s really important to me. It’s been phenomenal for me, for my family. Just the opportunity. I’m extremely thankful for. I’m thrilled that really be a part of this university. I have pictures of me, wearing Ohio State stuff from when I was 6. I’m from New York. The greatness of Ohio State is really far-reaching. Ever since I came here a as student in 2003, I fell in love with the place, the people, the culture, just everything that is Ohio State.
