Michael J. Fox Gives Marriage Advice

– YOU HAVE JUST COME BACK
FROM VACATION? OR WHEN DID YOU TAKE
YOUR FAMILY ON VACATION? – WELL, WE WENT OVER
THE WINTER BREAK, THE HOLIDAY BREAK, AND WE WENT TO ST. BARTS, WHICH SOUNDS GREAT. AND THERE’S BEAUTIFUL ISLANDS
LIKE PROVENCE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CARIBBEAN. BUT THERE’S A LOT OF
PHOTOGRAPHERS THERE, AND SO MY WHOLE MISSION BECAME TO NOT GET MY
WHITE FISH BELLY PHOTOGRAPHED. THEY DIDN’T GET ME, SO– – OH, THEY DID GET YOU. YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE PICTURE? – OH, NO. – OH, MY GOD,
YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THIS? IT’S AMAZING. [cheers and applause] – [laughing] – NO WONDER
I’VE BEEN MARRIED 25 YEARS. – [laughing] YEAH, YOU HAVE. THAT’S A BEAUTIFUL THING. YOU JUST CELEBRATED
YOUR 25TH ANNIVERSARY. – YEAH.
[cheers and applause] – AND I WOULD IMAGINE, SINCE YOU GO TO ST. BARTS
JUST FOR CHRISTMAS, FOR A 25 ANNIVERSARY,
YOU WOULD DO SOMETHING BIG. – WENT TO BROOKLYN,
HAD PIZZA. – OH, YEAH. – YEAH, WE DID, WE WENT
TO BROOKLYN AND HAD PIZZA ON OUR 25TH ANNIVERSARY. IT WAS GREAT. I MEAN, THE COOL THING
ABOUT THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY WAS THAT WE KIND OF WOKE UP
AND SAID, “WELL, I GUESS THIS WORKED.” – UH-HUH. – SIGN UP FOR ANOTHER 25. SO WE DID. AND WE HAVE. AND WE CEMENTED IT
WITH PIZZA IN BROOKLYN. – THAT’S BEAUTIFUL. AND WHAT DO YOU DO
THAT BUGS HER, AND WHAT DOES SHE DO
THAT BUGS YOU? – WELL, SHE CLAIMS
THAT I SPEAK IN A TONE THAT CAN ONLY BE HEARD
BY DOGS AND… AND S.A.S. LISTENING DEVICES. I MUMBLE
AND I SPEAK– AND I SPEAK IN A KIND
OF A MONOTONE RUMBLE, AND SHE CAN’T HEAR ME. AND SO SHE’LL SAY, “WHAT ARE YOU TELLING ME?” “I TOLD YOU–I GAVE YOU
A WHOLE SPEECH ABOUT IT.” SHE’LL SAY,
“I DIDN’T HEAR YOU. SPEAK UP.” SO THAT BUGS HER. WHAT–I WOULDN’T SAY
WHAT BUGS ME, BUT I’M A OPTIMIST. I’M KIND OF FAMOUS
FOR MY POSITIVE OUTLOOK, AND I EXPECT THE BEST THINGS
TO HAPPEN. TRACY IS A REALIST
AND A BIT OF A PESSIMIST AND A BIT OF A HYPOCHONDRIAC. – [laughing] – SO SHE GETS A BLISTER
ON HER TOE, THE FOOT’S COMING OFF. AND SO I’M ALWAYS– AND THAT BUGS HER, TOO,
‘CAUSE I’LL– AND THE THING THAT I SAY
TO HER THAT BUGS HER SO MUCH
IS WHEN I GO, “OH, WELL.” SHE SAYS,
“DON’T SAY, OH, WELL.” I SAY, “OH, WELL,
WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO? THAT’S THE WAY IT GOES.” SHE DOESN’T WANT
TO HEAR THAT. – YEAH. NO, SHE WANTS YOU TO SAY,
“THAT’S HORRIBLE. LET ME LOOK AT THAT;
CAN I TAKE CARE OF IT?” – YEAH,
I’M NOT GONNA DO THAT. – OH.
– [laughs] – ALL RIGHT, WELL WHATEVER
YOU’RE DOING, IT’S WORKING. WE’RE GONNA TAKE A BREAK, AND WE WILL TALK ABOUT
“THE MICHAEL J. FOX SHOW,” WHICH, WOW, IT’S A COINCIDENT
THAT YOU’D GET THAT SHOW. – YEAH, IT’S GOOD CASTING. – I MEAN, WOW. WE’LL BE RIGHT BACK. [cheers and applause]

  1. It makes me feel so sad for michael j fox. I know people get these diseases and they have to get on with it but it seems so cruel. In the circumstances he is getting on with his life and making the most of it so thats good. 🙂

  2. I remember when I first heard that he had Parkinsons disease, I was really young and that was a loong time ago. So good to see him now. He still looks great and besides Parkinsons he still acts the same! Awesome stuff!!

  3. I am so happy he is still himself and has not hidden from the world due to his health. How many amazing directors and actors have committed suicide, become addicts to something or have vanished judt because of a movie flop? Michael, you are still GREAT!

  4. I think Michael J Fox is great! Back To The Future is one of my favourite films. I'm going to sound like an idiot, but I actually didn't know he had Parkinson's Disease. For him to have such a positive outlook, which I find similar to my own outlook on life, is so great! He's very inspiring 🙂

  5. As someone who suffers from Parkinsons at a very early age, I have so much respect for how strong and optimistic he is. The littlest things that most people take for granted are a struggle, and I honestly am not sure I would even have the courage to go on TV because my symptoms would be much worse since I'd be nervous as hell! Michael J. Fox, you are my inspiration.

  6. Couldn't recognize him at first but I listened longer to him speak and it was a "Aha! Now that's the Back To The Future guy."

  7. See him in that condition make me feel kinda sad but then I don't feel so sad because he still alive, joking with Ellen, being here…with us

  8. I think he was my first crush ever,… like when I didn't know what having crush was lol.. I was like what? 7? all I knew is that I wanted to be Jennifer on Back to the future. And he's not only cute but amazing and a role model. God Bless him

  9. Isn't kinda of insensitive of his wife to be annoyed by how he talks? The parkinson's definitely changed his voice. He always was kinda soft spoken, but he mumbles, stutters and stammers now with words because of the progression of the disease.

  10. His wife keeps getting more beautiful! He's charming too! What a beautiful simple couple. 🙂 Ellen interviewed him so well too.

  11. i still love him. i looked at him today just the same i looked at him when he was popular in the 80s. mmm mmm still my man!

  12. Brooklyn and had pizza…. Thats a simple and amazing way to celebrate an anniversary! Love Michael J. Fox! Such a great human being!! What an amazing actor! Love Back to the Future! One of our favorites!!

    Best,
    ~Curtis & FiZzO~

  13. His work as an actor is outstanding. I’ve watched his movies many a time as they are the best , period, no question. I don’t know Mr Fox as a person, so I can’t say much about him, other than if we lived in a world with more people like him, what a much better world it would be.

  14. Michael Fox is one if the true greats…..also very frank , very direct .
He gets on with it the best he can day to day .
Michael my best thoughts to you and all who know and root for you .
    You are an inspiration .
    Great guy

  15. Looks a lot like akathisia you get when on an antipsychotic since antipsychotics block dopamine and parkinsons involves too little dopamine as well – it's very uncomfortable to experience. gives his character in The Good Wife a lot of deptht though

  16. He’s so witty and funny. Always had a crush on him since he was a kid. So happy his wife and him have been together for 25 years ❤️
