How To Get Divorce Papers

Hi everyone, I’m Piper with Truece. I want to talk to you today about how to get divorce papers. If you’re ready to start the process of
getting a divorce, you’re probably already emotionally overwhelmed – the last thing
you want to do is slog through a mountain of confusing paperwork! A quick Google search will bring up over 9
million results in under a second, so that’s a lot to handle. Where do you begin? The first thing you’ll need to do is to
file a Petition of Divorce. There are three basic channels you can use to do this. The first is to hire an attorney. This is probably the most simple, though certainly not the cheapest option. An attorney will make sure you have all the
proper documentation, and help you fill it out and
file it. This can be a big stress relief, and also gives you someone in your corner who
knows the ins and outs of the legal system and has your best interest in mind. However, you may decide you want to file your
Petition of Divorce on your own, without legal assistance. In that case, you may choose to file online. There are plenty of websites to help you do this, including state-specific websites
(for example www.oregondivorceonline.com), which will take
into account local laws and procedures, or general sites such as www.getdivorcepapers.com. Either one will provide you with the forms you need to get
the process started. Finally, you can visit your county clerk’s
office and get hard copies of the Petition of Divorce, which you can then fill out and file
with the clerk’s office. Once you’ve filed, and your Petition has
been processed, your spouse will be served with divorce papers, and the next phase of
the process will begin. [Optional phrase – signals the end of this phase and transition
into next, but not really necessary information for how to get divorce papers.] I hope this has been helpful! Once again, I’m Piper with Truece.
